Core Mechanics

This is where you start the experience in, the droning ticking of an analog clock ringing over your head as your shift begins, in an office room both cramped and awfully isolating.

You'll be 'working' through rhetorical puzzles on your screen that shouldn't be any more complex than a two-button choice.

Your boss may peek into the room to offer overtime work. Co-workers may pass by, but unable to co-mingle for long.

In general, the intended feel of this side of the experience is to isolate and bring a monotonous, dull feeling to the player.

THE OFFICE

The dream sequence happens after the clock hits five, the player closes their eyes to find themselves brought into a dreamscape. A beach, a family home, or some other dream vacation.

Your actions/lack of action in the office may impact subtle elements in the dream. It may appear dull, more vibrant and full depending on how kind you are, or how hard-working you were that day.

The feel of this side of the experience depends on your actions, but generally is a lot more lively than the office.

THE DREAM

Our VR environment project intends to bring a perspective into the life of one who lives their life day by day in a mundane job. On one hand, you live the life in a nine-to-five office job. After five, you're brought into a sort of dreamscape, a vision of what could be. Enjoying the freedom of movement before an alarm rings in your head, dragging you back to the same office.

We ultimately want the viewer to leave our experience understanding the value of time we have. To make the most of what little time we have outside the experiences of the mundane.

Project Description & Target Impact

At the end of the experience, no matter what the player has done in the dream or office sequences, are presented with two open doors.

One door leads back to the office, where the player will continue their life of monotony. It may keep you sustained at the end of the day, but you may wonder in your senior years if you really could've done more with your life.

The other door is an exit door. You take some control in your life and transform your dreams into a reality. Realistically, you may not leave work forever. You may see this as a vacation to enjoy the time you have living, or you quitting your job to find a new direction in life.

Regardless, the choice is, and will always be yours!
